School Improvement Team

School improvement is a key focus of the work of the Trust and all programmes and partnership essentially contribute towards this strategic priority.  The Trust has created a small team of staff employed to work alongside and compliment the local authority school improvement service. The team provides additional support to Trust schools in key areas of the curriculum including Maths, English, Science and eLearning.

Kate joined the School Improvement Team in January 2015 and will be available to support school in Primary Science on request, free of charge to North Tyneside Schools. Kate also leads on the Primary Science Learning Partnership Courses, which are available for booking via our Events Page.

In Louise’s role she is able to support Trust science departments on areas for development.  This can be through visits, workshops or networking sessions but most importantly her aim is to promote collaboration between teachers, and the sharing of excellent practice in teaching and learning. Louise also leads on the Secondary Science Learning Partnership Courses, which are available for booking on our Events Page.

 The Great North Maths Hub will:

Colleen is seconded for 1 day a week and at present supports schools, focusing on literacy.  Throughout the last year she has spent one term in a school assisting with the set up of Read Write Inc,  spent a term and a half delivering writing interventions with the aim to boost KS1 SATs results, and is presently in a  middle school with the aim of delivering reading interventions to help boost KS2 SATs results.

Apple RTC

The Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC) is a community programme and as such is about sharing each others’ learning experiences and knowledge between peers. The RTCs in the UK are learning-hubs within local regions, promoting collaboration and the sharing of resources and practices. The North Tyneside Learning Trust Apple RTC is based at Trust school, Stephenson Memorial Primary, and offers free Apple based training for all of the schools not only in North Tyneside, but across the whole of the North East. The centre focuses on enhancing and transforming Teaching and Learning with Apple technology, including iPads, iPods and iMacs.
