Governor Training and Development

North Tyneside Learning Trust provides regular online training workshops to support Trust Governors in developing confidence, knowledge and governance skills.

How our
workshops work

  • Format: Online via Zoom
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Time: 5.30–7.30pm (unless stated otherwise)
  • Access: Link emailed one week before
  • Places: Two per school, first come, first served

Autumn Term 2025

Wednesday 15th October 2025

Governors need to undertake formal monitoring visits to their school and this session will help governors to gain the maximum impact from their visits.

Thursday 23th October 2025 (6-8pm)

This session will help governors to understand what AI is, the opportunities and implications the use of AI has in schools and the Governing body’s role in supporting this.

Tuesday 18th November 2025

This session being delivered by our own World of Work Project Lead will provide governors with information on how schools deliver careers education and prepare their students for their futures. Providing an update on new careers statutory guidance and updated Gatsby Benchmarks as well as looking at skills gaps in our area.

Spring Term 2026

Wednesday 28th January 2026

This session will help governors to understand how to fulfil their role in ensuring that pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) have the best educational experience possible and that the school they govern is meeting regulatory requirements and best practice expectations.

Tuesday 17th March 2026

When an Ofsted inspection is due, it is important for governors to feel confident and prepared for the visit. This session will bring governors up to date on the new inspection framework and the introduction of report cards.
