An Extravaganza of Music at The Glasshouse ICM

On Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music was buzzing with excitement and energy. The occasion? A spectacular musical event that brought together 380 children from 14 Trust Partner Schools in a massed choir and 40 talented young people from Trust High Schools who performed in ensembles and as soloists. The event, produced by Stephane Bommel, Headteacher at Hazlewood Community Primary School and NTLT Director, was a celebration of the power of music in education.

The program featured musical numbers from popular West End musicals and the world of pop. Songs from shows including “Les Misérables” and “Matilda” had the audience singing along, while pop hits brought a modern vibe to the performances.

The NTLT Musical Extravaganza, one of a kind for children from Trust Partner Schools, was performed to a packed audience of over 1200 family and friends. Throughout the night, the audience was treated to a variety of performances that demonstrated not only the musical abilities of the students but also the dedication and effort they had put into preparing for this event.

Huge congratulations to Emily from Preston Grange Primary School who was the winner of our ‘Design a T-shirt’ competition. Her design was featured on all of the t-shirts worn by the choir

Feedback from the audience was overwhelmingly positive. One teacher shared, “The children loved singing with lots of other children in such an impressive venue.” Another added, “This is the third year we have engaged with the Musical Extravaganza and every year, the children enjoy the experience and the magic of the night!”

The standing ovation at the end of the night was a testament to the hard work and talent of all the young performers. It was a truly magical evening that celebrated the joy and power of music in bringing people together.

As the audience left The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, there was a sense of pride and joy. This event was not just about showcasing musical talent; it was about celebrating the power of music to inspire, educate, and bring people together. It’s events like these that remind us of the important role that music plays in our lives and in our communities.

So, here’s to the young performers, the dedicated teachers, the proud parents, and everyone who made this magical evening possible – we can’t wait to see you again in 2025!
