Newcastle Eagles Hoops4Health Champions

Thousands of Newcastle Eagles’ fans watched as Preston Grange Primary School took on reigning champions Wellfield Middle School in the North Tyneside Hoops4Health final on Friday 3rd March 2023 at the Vertu Motors Arena.

Earlier that day the tense semi-finals took place with Wellfield Middle School winning their match against Backworth Primary School, and Preston Grange Primary School beating fellow Trust Partner School, Ivy Road Primary School to secure places in the final.

During the final match, none of the young people seemed phased by the crowd and both teams put on an outstanding performance resulting in a 2-2 draw which could only mean one thing… shots! Amazingly 2 pupils from each team stepped up to take the shots with Preston Grange Primary School securing the win!

Needless to say there were some disappointed faces as well as some very happy ones but in the spirit of basketball, everyone congratulated each other on a brilliant performance.
