NTLT Star Awards - 10th Anniversary

Back in 2014, NTLT partnered with Vision for Education to deliver the very first NTLT Star Awards. Open to all NTLT Partner Schools, the awards celebrated the non-academic achievements of children and young people from across the Trust. Fast forward to 2023 and this year we’re excited and proud to be celebrating our 10th awards!

Although every year has been special, there have been some real highlights including a virtual awards ceremony delivered via Zoom when we weren’t allowed to meet face to face due to the pandemic and a special visit from the High Sherriff of Tyne and Wear but above all it is the children and young people, their family, friends and teachers who really make the awards as special as they are.

Along with Vision for Education who have been the main sponsor of the awards since the start, we’ve been supported by a number of businesses and organisations who have a presence in the North Tyneside including Capita, Muckle LLP and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation who have supported us from the early days.

When asked what is special about the NTLT Star Awards, Kehri Ellis (Chief Exec, North Tyneside Learning Trust) said:

“The NTLT Star Awards is one of the biggest events in our annual calendar and it’s incredibly exciting for us to be hosting the 10th anniversary of the awards this year, live at St James Park on Thursday 13th July. There are now over 450 children and young people in the NTLT Star Awards Hall of Fame, each nominated for the most exceptional personal achievements and I am incredibly proud to have shared company with each and every one of the finalists. Our main awards sponsor Vision for Education has supported the awards for 10 consecutive years and we are incredibly grateful to them and all of our category sponsors for their very generous and continued support. The Annual NTLT Star Awards offers the Trust and its schools the opportunity to recognise and reward the exceptional achievements of children and young people from across our schools. The 2023 anniversary year promises to be bigger and better than ever, so please don’t delay, submit your nominations today!”

Sarah Lamb, Specialist Practitioner – Widening Participation at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust said this about the awards:

“In line with our commitment to an inclusive workforce, Northumbria Healthcare is a proud sponsor of the North Tyneside Learning Trust Star Awards, having supported the Inclusion Award category for 10 years now. This award recognises a child or young person who has demonstrated an understanding and acceptance of other people and actively promotes tolerance and cohesion. We are honoured to sponsor an award that aligns to our trust values, in particular ‘everyone’s contribution counts. We all have a part to play in delivering excellence. Recognition of this at a young age is a stepping stone to a successful future for young people in our community.”

For the 10th anniversary, the awards ceremony will be returning to St James Park on Thursday 13th July. Nominations are now open for applications and details can be found here.

We are once again grateful to Vision for Education, who continue to support the awards as the main sponsor, and to all of our award category sponsors details of which can be found here. If you are interested in supporting the awards in the future, please contact Katrina Moffat.
