For year 12 students looking to gain an insight into the industries of law or engineering, there aren’t many opportunities better than the NTLT Think Law or Think Engineering programmes. This year we welcomed 60 students from Trust sixth forms to take part in these two programmes which launched earlier in the academic year.
The launch of our Think Law programme was hosted by Womble Bond Dickinson who have supported the programme for a number of years. Students were introduced to the field of Law, the careers available and the routes into those careers. Former apprentices shared their experiences of following this route into the field which is becoming increasing more popular amongst school leavers.
Students taking part on our Think Engineering programme were welcomed by The Common Room in Newcastle for the launch of their programme. This historic venue has its roots in engineering and in particular mining and mechanical engineering. During their session, our future engineers looked at the UN Sustainable Development Goals and how engineering can be used to achieve them. They also took a short quiz highlighting some of the types of engineering they might want to explore further as a career.
Both the Think Law and Think Engineering programmes continue throughout the academic year with students visiting more organisations to discover more about the respective fields. For more information about these programmes, please email Angie Patterson.
