Youth Summit

The summit provides an opportunity for School Councils and Schools of Sanctuary groups from across North Tyneside to meet, share ideas and learn from one another. Through discussion and activity, young people are encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and consider how they can help shape positive change in their schools and communities.

The day is particularly valuable for schools that are already Schools of Sanctuary, those working towards the award, or schools beginning to explore what being a welcoming school means in practice. It supports pupils to take a leading role, helping them develop confidence, empathy and a stronger sense of responsibility for their school environment.

By placing young people at the centre of the conversation, the Youth Summit helps schools empower pupils to identify what works well, what could be improved, and how small actions can make a real difference.
