CPD & Professional Learning

We offer a range of subsidised professional development opportunities to support school leaders and staff across the Trust.

Leadership Support for New Headteachers

We recognise that the transition into headship can be both exciting and demanding. In response to feedback from schools, we offer a coaching programme for headteachers new to post, designed to complement any mentoring or local authority support already in place.

The year-long programme provides a confidential, supportive space for reflection and professional growth. It consists of six one-hour, one-to-one online sessions with a qualified coach.

Headteachers are supported to reflect on their wellbeing, test ideas with a trusted sounding board, and develop confidence in strategic and innovative thinking during what is often a challenging first year in role.

Elklan Training

Elklan provides practical, evidence based training to help adults support children’s speech, language and communication development.

To support access to this training, the Trust offers £100 per school towards Elklan course costs. This helps schools strengthen inclusive practice and ensure that staff across a child’s network are equipped to support communication needs effectively.

Thrive Training

The Thrive Approach is a whole school framework that supports the emotional and social wellbeing of children and young people. Grounded in neuroscience, attachment theory and child development research, it helps schools better understand behaviour and respond to underlying emotional needs.

The Trust offers a two-for-one subsidy on Thrive training, supporting schools to:

identify emotional developmental needs
provide targeted, relational support
embed emotional wellbeing into everyday practice

This approach supports children to develop resilience, emotional literacy and readiness to learn.

Apprenticeship Support

Apprenticeships are a flexible and cost-effective way to develop skills, build capacity and support career progression. North Tyneside Learning Trust supports its partner schools to explore, promote and manage apprenticeship opportunities.

Networks

Our networks bring colleagues together to share practice, build confidence and develop expertise in key areas of school improvement. They provide structured opportunities for collaboration, professional dialogue and peer support.

Careers Education Support

We offer a range of subsidised professional development opportunities to support school leaders and staff across the Trust.

Local Leaders

The Trust uses the skills of leaders within the Trust to provide capacity to help other schools. This support is available in AI. Schools can apply to make use of the time of our Local Leaders to assist in developing their own expertise.

Schools of Sanctuary

North Tyneside Learning Trust leads and supports the Schools of Sanctuary programme across North Tyneside. We hold the local licence to deliver the award and work in partnership with the refugee charity Walking With (Wallsend) to support schools through the process.
