North Tyneside Learning Trust’s careers fair gets pupils excited about STEAM careers
This month 280 Year 6 pupils from six North Tyneside Learning Trust schools came together for our STEAM Live careers fair, designed to inspire 10-11 year olds about careers in science, technology, engineering, arts and maths.

Hands-on learning at its best
We had 20 brilliant organisations join us, each bringing interactive demonstrations and activities that really brought STEAM careers to life. From emergency services showing off their life-saving technology to engineers explaining how bridges work, pupils got to experience what these jobs are really like, plus a planetarium!
The hands-on approach works amazingly well, instead of just talking about careers, pupils could actually try things out and see for themselves how exciting these fields can be.
The feedback from pupils was fantastic:
- 164 pupils learned about new jobs they’d never heard of before
- 136 pupils really enjoyed the event
- 96% of pupils both discovered new careers and had a great time
