Meet the Core Team


Kehri Ellis was appointed Chief Executive of North Tyneside Learning Trust in October 2012. Kehri joined the Trust after six years as Director of Newcastle Partnership and has a wealth of experience in successful partnership working. Her previous roles include Head of Social Investment at Sunderland Housing Group (now Gentoo) as well as a number of senior management roles within national charities. Kehri’s career began in housing, managing the homelessness and housing advice service at Sunderland City Council. Kehri has an MA in Housing Policy and Management, an MBA and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

Sam Gallilee was appointed Project Manager in January 2016 and has responsibility for overseeing the delivery and development of Trust projects. Her previous roles include Development Manager for Herrington Burn YMCA based in Sunderland where her role was to provide educational and vocational training and support to children and young people. Her background is in working with young people using youth work tools to aid personal, social and emotional development and she has many years experience in working with disadvantaged groups.Sam’s key function within the Trust will be co-ordination, including reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

Nicola Comrie has worked at the Trust in an administration and finance role since September 2015. Initially this was on a secondment basis from Norham High School. Since October 2017 Nicola has been employed directly by the Trust. Nicola works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, term time only.  Previously Nicola had worked at Norham High School for nearly 8 years as an Administration Clerk,  she was also Administration Manager for a food service company and a Commercial Registration and Billing Senior Team Leader for a utility company. Nicola’s key function within the Trust will be to provide administrative and financial support, including reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

Melissa Laidler was seconded to the Trust from Norham High School in October 2016. Mel’s main role within the trust is to provide admin support for the Science Learning Partnership, as well as other general administration duties. She has worked at Norham High School as the Receptionist since 2013 and previously worked for the National Trust at Seaton Delaval Hall as a conservation assistant.
